Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, from a fess partition line a sun rising in splendor and in base a bear passant Or. Attached below the shield is a Gold scroll inscribed "SINE PRAEJUDICIO" in Blue letters.

Symbolism
The colors and charges on the shield allude to the State of California, to which the organization was first allocated. The motto translates to "Without Prejudice."

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 308th Military Police Battalion. It was redesignated for the 508th Military Police Battalion on 15 June 1954. The insignia was amended to update the description on 27 July 2005.

On a wreath Or and Azure, issuant palewise a two-bladed halberd, the head Argent and shaft Sable entwined with a grapevine of the first fructed Purpure.

The crest represents the Battalion's Central Europe and Rhineland campaign honors awarded for service in World War II. The two-bladed halberd, a medieval weapon used in Central Europe, is associated with guards. The grapevine refers to the Rhineland.

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 308th Military Police Battalion on 21 May 1938. It was redesignated for the 508th Military police Battalion on 15 April 1944. It was amended to change the blazonry of the shield on 17 August 1964. The insignia was amended to add a crest on 27 July 2005.
